Located in the mountainous hinterland of Tegallalang, slightly north of Ubud, Pandawas Villas rests on 7000sq.m of beautifully appointed landscape surrounded by rice paddies, lush jungle and verdant river valleys. The four -villa resort is named after the protagonists from the great Hindu chronicle, The Mahabhrata that tells the heroic story of Yudistra, Bima, Arjuna, and the twins Sahadewa and Nakula. From their thirteen-year exile to the eighteen-day battle in which they retook the kingdom to their epic traversal across the sacred Himalayan mountain range to finally reach heaven, their tale is essentially one of Dharma vs. Adharma (good vs. evil). Pandawas Villas manifests the aspects of this righteous brotherhood to great thematic effect in what is not only a villa property with an original concept, but also one that redefines luxury.

Modern and spacious, the composition of each villa
consists of large glass windows and sliding doors that open up to a large teak
bed with refined bed covers that match the custom made curtains. Natural light
pervades the rooms while high ceilings add to the openness of the space. Furnishings
consist of hand woven hanging lamps, an oversized chaise-lounge in matching
upholstery and a small couch that faces the flat screen TV in each room. There
is also an adjacent salon area with large built in wardrobe and double vanity
and the en-suite partially open-air bathroom is luxuriously outfitted with
muted wall finishing’s, two copper sinks with modern fixtures, shower and
toilet area, and oversized stand alone copper tub big enough for four. Two
sides of the bathroom are bordered by small gardens with palms and frangipani
trees and a hand carved bas-relief of each brother overlooks the tub.
Connecting to the Arjuna common area is separate lounge / playroom. It overlooks a large koi pond and adjacent outdoor picnic table from which to enjoy the scenery. This room is furnished minimally but comfortably and features textured fleur-de-lis wallpaper along well, creating a nice balance to the organic feel of the rest of the property.
Scattered throughout the manicured grounds are charming garden enclaves and ponds where the soothing sound of trickling water relaxes, while beside a waterfall pond are wooden steps that lead to Buddy’s Bar, the crows nest of the property where once can view rice paddies, surrounding valleys and the villas themselves. Keep walking and one then stumbles onto other pleasant surprises such as a vegetable and herb patch, Balinese temple, and monolith pond from where ancient stone columns rise out of the water.
A full-serviced
facility, Pandawas also features all the services and amenities one would
expect from a luxury villa estate. Friendly, professional and discreet staff,
spa services, and in-house chef, just to name a few. Add to this stunning
location, serene tranquility and modern design and you will realize that
Pandawas Villas really does live up to it’s epic name.
